Porcelain Enameled Steel Process
The high-quality porcelain enamel steel used by Porcewol by Alfher® to manufacture its products is made from an extra-flat steel sheet and it undergoes a double firing process.
A ground-coat base is first applied and then fired at a temperature above 1500 ºF.
Thereafter, the vitreous enamel cover coat, of the color required, is applied and fired again to obtain the final finish of the formed piece.
It is during this process that the glass and steel are chemically bonded forming a new material: porcelain enamel steel, also known as Vitreous Enameled Steel.
